My mother was an artist at heart. No matter where she went, her eye would catch little things that inspired her. She traveled the world and collected as she went. She walked the beaches of Cape Cod, scanning the sand for the natural designs of the ocean. She found beauty in pieces of knotted wood and smooth stones.

My mother kept her vast collection in her basement studio, where she was a prolific ceramic, stained, and fused glass artist. Her deepest passions were the oceans of the Cape and ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. She created small pieces inspired by her passions to use in her mosaic designs and as part of mixed media projects.

​

However, as a result of dementia, my mother never got the chance to use most of her vast collection. Instead, it has been stashed away in the basement for nearly a decade. My mother's studio is small, but she used every nook and cranny as storage—the low rafters, stacks of small boxes under benches, behind shelves, and sewn through her personal work.

​

I want my mother's life's work and exquisite collection to live on. I would love to see her inspired finds interwoven through the designs of fellow artisans, which is why I am transforming her delightful basement studio into a gallery and collection shoppe. I am excited to see my vision coming to life.
