Richard never openly celebrated his incredible gift as a fine artist. Instead, what he exhibited to the world was his mastery of fine woodworking, including custom found-wood furniture designs.
While some of his original paintings were displayed privately in his home, they were hidden away in his cellar and attic for as long as forty years, never exhibited for the public to see. This privacy was an intentional act of humility to practice his Christian ideals; he painted exclusively for himself and in celebration of Jesus Christ.

He often remarked, “Art should look organic, like it just grew there like that, as if there was no human hand involved at all.” He beautifully captured this natural essence within each of his rare canvas works.
Today, Richard spends his days primarily at home as he declines with Alzheimer's disease. While his long-past memories remain beautifully intact, his day-to-day life now repeats in his mind over and over. Richard still remembers his paintings clearly, holding onto them as a powerful expression of his persevering faith.
